As you will probably want to protect the use of your new limited company name on the internet, we offer full domain name registration services alongside our company formations services.

Top Level Domains (TLDs)

We offer registration on most top level domains: .ie (Ireland's own top level domain), .com, .net, .biz, .org, .info, .co.uk and .org.uk.

.com and .net are the most commonly used top level domains.

Many Irish companies select .ie as a way to identify themselves as Irish. You may also want to use a .ie domain if your chosen name is already registered as a .com.

.ie domains are more expensive - €225/2 years versus a .com for €60/2 years. To obtain a .ie domain name you must supply documentation that you are eligible to use the domain name. You need no such documentation for the other top level domains we offer. If you are forming a limited company or have registered a business name you would then have the proper documentation to use the company name as a .ie domain name. Recently they have been allowing more use of generic names (i.e. webhosts.ie versus yournamewebhosts.ie), but you still need to show that your business activity is relevant to use a generic name. This is to stop companies from buying up all the desired names and then selling them off at a premium.

Choosing a Domain Name

Most companies will use their company name for their domain name (i.e. omahonydonnelly.ie). More and more you see companies using more memorable generic names (i.e. company-formations-ireland.com). If you are a market that will be very competitive on search engines, it may benefit to use a generic name which includes popular relevant search phrases (also i.e. company-formations-ireland.com.

Most importantly you need to select a domain name that fits the image of your company and will be easy for you to give out and easy for clients and prospects to remember.
